General Production Operator

General Summary

An employee hired for general production is expected to show initiative and willingness to learn the operations, setups, paperwork and mechanical knowledge in one of the general production areas (TSX, Shear Cutter/Tipper or Wash). Employee is proficient at the setup, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and paperwork in one of the main areas in the General Production Department. An operator must perform accurate measurements, using personal tools and a scale and document measurements according to the specifications to paperwork. This individual must perform visual inspections on bullets produced from the area they are working.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (*Essential Functions)

Must be proficient in set-ups, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting equipment in one main area of General Production

Must be able to efficiently use tools of each area (caliper, dial indicator, micrometer and an optical comparator)

Must be able to perform all required inspections and checks and document data in SPC software

Complete, on a daily basis all paperwork, including inspections sheets, forms, logs and checklists

Adhere to area 5S standards and work on CI projects for department

Must always follow procedures

Must be able to report to the lead operator, Production Supervisor and coworkers with a positive attitude

Must work closely with the Tooling Crib Supervisor to keep tooling up-dated, organized and logged out properly

Responsible for the product produced during his/her shift

Must keep area clear and clean of oil, slugs and bullets on the floor

Must be willing to rotate days, swings and weekend shifts

Must be willing and able to work overtime when necessary

Regular and consistent attendance is required

Educational, Skills, and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent is preferred

Have experience working with basic mechanical tools

This individual must be self-motivated, have good punctuality, detail oriented and show self initiative

Must have good math skills, i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

Good reading and writing skills

Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following:

Personal Tool Requirements: (Including but not limited to) Micrometer and standard set of Allen wrenches

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but is often loud in specified areas. Hearing and eye protection is provided.

Safety Shoes meeting OSHA/ANSI Z-41 specifications are required for anyone working in the production department. Anyone working on the ammunition loading equipment or working in the Ballistic Lab are also required to have electrostatic dissipative (ESD) shoes.

Good hearing and listening habits to determine abnormal machines noises

Good visual skills to determine bullet defects and flaws

Good hygiene and grooming habits, long hair must be pulled back, no loose clothing or exposed midriffs, closed toed shoes required.

Position requires a great deal of movement, including bending, lifting 40+ pounds and climbing

Compensation Package:

Starting salary: $15.50 per hr DOE
