Sierra Bullets - Marketing Manager

General Summary:

This position is located in Sedalia, MO – not Utah. Remote work is possible.

The Marketing Manager will enhance the online presence of Sierra Bullets and Barnes Bullets, build and engage with online communities, and drive brand awareness through effective and strategic use of social media channels, relationship building, and collaboration. This role will primarily focus on Sierra, but collaboration and work with the Barnes brand is still expected. This candidate must have experience in the shooting sports industry as well as being intimately familiar with competitive shooting circuits (Precision Rifle Series, NRL Hunter, etc.). This role is crucial in developing and implementing comprehensive strategies that align with Sierra and Barnes’ overall marketing goals and contribute to its growth. You will create compelling content, manage social media campaigns, engage with the online community, and analyze performance for strategy optimization. Targeted outreach, relationship building, and the creation and management of an ambassador/influencer team will also fall under the Marketing Manager’s purview. Additionally, this individual will be part of a team focused on generating and executing a growth strategy in both competitive and hunting markets. You must be a self-starter and team player willing to lead multiple initiatives and support a small, but dynamic, team where needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field and/or equivalent education and job experience.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in sales, social media planning, or marketing.
  • Must be skilled in content creation across multiple channels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Hunting/Shooting/Outdoor Industry experience preferred, specifically in the competitive shooting markets.
  • Flexibility and availability to travel for various events, including some weekends.

Essential Functions

Fundamental duties necessary to achieve the objective of the position.

Social Media

Develop and manage day-to-day social media activities for Sierra across various platforms including, but not limited to, Meta, Instagram, X, YouTube, LinkedIn, and TikTok. Content must be captivating and visually appealing and should include a mix of photos, videos, graphics, and written posts that aligns with brand identity and resonates with target audience. Monitor for social trends, competitor activity and relevant online conversations to stay informed and adjust as necessary. Develop rolling content calendars based on seasonality, industry trends, strategic campaigns, and analytics. Execute on all social media goals: Engagement, growth.

Social Media – Community Management

Monitor and engage with consumers via comments and messages on social media, work cross-functionally with Customer Service, product managers, and other team members to handle questions and complaints.

Content Capture, Planning & Creative Execution Lead

Cultivate, capture and execute engaging content to increase brand awareness. Identify and fill content gaps based on calendar and work with internal and external teams. Assist in developing content calendars and scheduling posts, aligning with brand voice and objectives.

 

Ambassador Management

Assemble, grow and manager an team of ambassadors, influencers, and other partners to aid in brand awareness. Lead analytics and bring forth recommendations to optimize and expand influencer program for all marksmen. Coordinate, request, and manage incoming & outgoing content from all digital partners to be used on social, brand websites and advertisement platforms.

E-Newsletter Management

Work with the creative team on recurring e-newsletter deployment. Lead strategy with the team based on content, seasons, and new product news. Make sure all content is present on website to drive increased web traffic. Report monthly results and drive changes in strategy based on previous results.

Physical Requirements: Must be able and willing to travel domestically. Work weekends and evenings to post time-relevant or newsworthy content. Be comfortable outside for content capture.

 

Mental Requirements: Solves routine problems of limited scope and complexity following established policies and procedures. Must be flexible to handle multiple tasks simultaneously that may at times have conflicting priorities. Must possess the ability to work under pressure and make decisions quickly.

Equipment & Software Used: Computers, mobile phone. Proficiency in photo editing using Adobe Creative Suite or similar software. Experience in various social media platforms.

 

Working Environment: Be flexible with spending time in a climate-controlled office setting, traveling, or being outdoors (possibly in rugged terrain).

  • Problem solving and ability to communicate across company is crucial.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles, customer service or online community management
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms and emerging trends
