General Summary:

To complete all basic building and equipment maintenance, along with preventative/periodic maintenance on all machinery in an industrial setting.  Technician must be able to complete basic trouble shooting and problem solving on equipment as needed.  Job will require general janitorial/cleaning responsibilities as needed.  Individual must be able to create, implement and update maintenance logs and procedures.  Some wiring, electrical, framing, and plumbing work as needed.

Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)

  • Layout, design, and fabricate parts through interpretation of engineered drawings, verbal instruction or examples of existing parts.
  • Experienced with various types of materials, including stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, plastic, and wood.
  • Experience using welding equipment.
  • Perform various types of general millwright work including rigging and movement of equipment using hydraulic, mechanical, or motorized equipment.
  • Ability to run general fabrication equipment such as sheer, press brake, drill press, band saw, pedestal grinder, angle grinder, bead blaster, sanders…
  • Operating and troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial setting.
  • Work from engineered drawing to construct or fabricate general carpentry work used for operations or support functions.
  • Have knowledge of various wood working tooling such as skill saws, reciprocating saws, planers, routers, drill press, and jig saws.
  • Full understanding of electrical drawings. Determine cause of any electrical malfunction, plan a course of corrective action and perform the necessary repair work to correct the problem. Install, inspect, maintain, and adjust all electrical equipment and transmission lines in the operating departments of the facility.
  • Ongoing training, in house and at outside vendors. Evaluate and report findings to supervisor and staff.
  • Understand and institute facilities preventative maintenance program.
  • Working knowledge of all processes and filing for equipment logs and maintenance work orders.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility including plumbing, framing, grounds work, sprinklers, etc.
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment.
  • Fill out proper requisition request completely to order replacement parts and supplies.
  • Professional conduct to supply an honorable service for the facility.
  • Housekeeping such as mop, sweep, and wipe down around work area when work is complete.
  • Schedule is Monday – Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when necessary.
  • Shift work may be required on an as needed, or permanent basis.
  • Must be willing to do general janitorial/cleaning.

  • Must have a two-year degree in a technical field or two to three years’ experience in workforce in related field.

  • Must have good math skills, i.e. addition, subtraction, and division.
  • Must work quickly and efficiently.

  • Safety oriented, must be careful, alert, work safely and keep area clean.
  • Record necessary paperwork completely, legibly and accurately.
  • Must be able to listen and follow instructions from management and others.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following:
    • Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision
    • Read and comprehend process instructions
    • Record pertinent process information as required

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather and underground contained conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but is often loud in specified areas.  Hearing and eye protection is provided. 

Safety Shoes meeting OSHA/ANSI Z-41 specifications are required for anyone working in the production department. Anyone working on the ammunition loading equipment or working in the Ballistic Lab are also required to have electrostatic dissipative (ESD) shoes.

Good hearing and listening habits to determine abnormal machines noises

  • Position requires a great deal of movement and standing on your feet up to 100% of the day 
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs both ascending and descending using feet and hands
  • Must be able to bend and lift at least 40 pounds
  • Ability to lift, balance and maneuver up to 40 lbs while standing on a ladder
  • Ability to push and pull carts up to 1500 lbs
  • Good hearing and listening habits to determine abnormal machine noises
  • Good visual skills
  • Good hygiene and grooming habits, long hair must be pulled back, no loose clothing or exposed midriff’s, closed toed shoes required
  • Must be able to work outside in heat or cold
  • Must be able to mow lawn and shovel snow
