I’m so proud of my son, Kyle. We hiked 20 hours of the 30 hours we were in
this country. Hiking was tough. We were at 11,000 feet elevation, wearing heavy backpacks.
When we finally found the buck we wanted, Kyle made a 507-yard shot. Hit the buck right in the top of the back. The animal died instantly. Kyle used a stainless steel Winchester Model 70 firing a 140-grain 7mm Barnes TSX bullet.
From where Kyle made his shot, it was a ten-hour hike back to the truck. We took only one 30-minute rest.
At the end of the Wyoming hunt, Kyle said, “dad, that was a REAL hunt. Am I ready
to hunt sheep now at Arctic Red?”
I said, “yes, you are tough enough, mentally and physically. Now you just have to work hard and make some serious money.” I am glad he is inspired to think BIG!
We saw 4 damn wolves on this hunt.
As this photo shows, the west is an AWESOME place. It’s worth fighting for.
