Vice President, Product Marketing and Management – Ammunition

Leads the Ammunition business in the key categories of Marketing and Product Development.

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for overall P&L of the Ammunition business.

• Develops KPI’s for the business, over-deliver sales targets and gross margins.

• Communicates expectations to each member of the Ammunition Team and holds them accountable for their individual targets, departmental goals and the overall health of the business.

• Directs and manages all Product Management activities and provides direction for effective product positioning in Marketing Communications Efforts.

• Develops and tracks a three year product strategy.

• Researches, defines and implements user-driven new product strategy. Develops world class new product introduction plans to maximize impact.

• Champions projects utilizing the “Voice of the Customer” when it comes to product strategies and overall marketing strategy.

• Monitors competitive strategies and implements plans to combat competition.

• Fosters organic growth of the Ammunition business utilizing solid and well defined business strategies. Recommends the acquisition of industry related businesses that fit into company strategy.

• Develops and executes a comprehensive strategic plan for the profitable management of pricing, gross margins, collateral materials and point-of-purchase.

• Maintains an awareness of trends in the industry and related industries to incorporate these trends into successful new product launches.

• Directs and coordinates activities of department or division for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives.

• Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations and forecast data in order to determine department or division progress toward established goals and objectives.

• Confers with Chief Marketing Officer and other management and administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.

• Develops forecasts based upon the seasonality of products and life cycles. Communicates forecast data to manufacturing facilities, ensuring proper production planning.

• Develops and implements pricing strategies to maximize profitability for the organization.

• Directs, coordinates and evaluates the activities of the department Director, Managers and Staff members.

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws including; interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Skills and Education Required:

• Masters degree (M.A) or equivalent; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Solid industry-related relationships with key customers and a thorough understanding of our industry and our competition.

• Ability to execute quickly by leading strategic efforts, which are understood and valued by departmental employees.

• Ability to gain trust and maintain solid working relationships with direct reports, staff and others within our organization.

• Must be a decisive individual who possesses a “big picture” perspective and is well versed in company systems.

• Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents.

• Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.

• Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of SAP Inventory, Manufacturing and Order Processing systems and/or other ERP systems, as well as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
