Product Manager – Centerfire Ammunition (Long Firearms)
Development and management of the business unit’s alternative materials in centerfire ammunition manufacturing for long firearms to insure that customer and market needs and legislated requirements are met through development of new products; while continuously rationalizing and upgrading the existing line, consistent with evolving trade, consumer and legislative trends.

• Identifies, designs and articulates current and prospective product marketing strategies that address new and emerging requirements for alternative material and market trends – centerfire ammunition manufacturing for long firearms using non-traditional materials.
• Develops a thorough understanding of current and proposed legislative activities at the Federal, State and local levels relative to Ammunition material composition and related competitive strategies.
• Develops and implements product plans that provide world class innovation and product leadership to all customer classes, i.e., hunting, shooting, law enforcement and DOD, and growth and profitability to the Ammunition Business.
• Coordinates market research activities that quantitatively and qualitatively support product strategies.
• Develops deep understanding of the users and market trends.
• Owns all new product activity from concept through final introduction including specifications, pricing, forecasting, and product launch plans – communication/merchandising/promotion.
• Manages the alternative materials used to manufacture centerfire ammunition for long firearms to maximize profitability, inventory objectives and other best practice business metrics.
• Manages the new product packaging design process, including upgrades to existing products.
• Acts as primary conduit between Manufacturing, R&D, and Marketing communications on all product related issues and activity.
• Acts as the primary conduit between Sales and Manufacturing/R&D on all product issues and needs.
• Provides leadership to Ammunition Product Team to insure product quality and integrity of the overall brand.
• Creates written and oral product presentations for Field Sales, Outdoor Writers, and internal Remington Operations Departments.
• Designs and implements practical application shooting activities and demonstrations for the Sales Department(s) and Outdoor Writers.
• Provides technical and creative guidance in the development of all marketing communications materials including Catalogs, Print Ads and Brochures.
• Assists MCD in the development of sales tools and communications strategies for both trade and consumers.
Skills and Education Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College or University in Business Management, Marketing or related and/or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint design software.
• Strong working knowledge of ammunition and its various end use applications.
• Thorough and complete understanding of the Remington product offering and key competitive offerings.
• Excellent interpersonal/team player skills and be self motivated.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
