Product Manager, DPMS Firearms – St. Cloud, MN
Responsible for the growth and profitability of the DPMS firearms category.
Primary Responsibilities

•Manages core product categories to insure products are positioned competitively in the marketplace and
are appropriately configured and featured to compete in current market conditions.
•Updates existing products as well as introduces new products into the market, positions these products, and monitors product life cycles.
•Knows the target market and how to keep the product line competitive on both price and features; with key responsibility for the profitability of the product line.
•Works directly with Manufacturing, Planning, Research & Development (especially key), Suppliers, Customer & Consumer Service and Marketing Communications to accomplish key objectives.
•Works directly with Sales and will be required to interact with Customers (Domestic and International) to insure placement of products in the proper channels of distribution.
•Writes and maintains strategic Marketing plans and maintains competitive pricing matrices.
•Manages Profit and Loss of product category.
•Performs and maintains competitive analyses and quality audits.
•Establishes product specifications and product order information (SAP).
•Develops packaging specifications and user manuals.
•Establishes new product pricing.
•Performs margin analysis and financial projections, product forecasts and product positioning introductions.
•Produces catalogs and price lists, develops print media strategies and Trade Show displays (SHOT, IWA, NRA,SCI).
•Conducts product training for field sales representatives and field sales support.
•Provides product introductions at Sales Meetings and Writers Seminars.
•Reviews Press Releases.
Skills and Education Required:
• Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from an accredited college or university (Business, Sales/Marketing, preferred) and/or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Firearms industry product management experience preferred.
• Ability to develop and produce Strategic Planning documents.
• Self motivation, self discipline and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Creativity and the ability to develop product strategies from an embryonic state.
• Ability to understand financial reporting and prepare and explain financial analysis to measure project performance.
• Ability to prepare and deliver presentation materials to senior level management.
• Solid understanding and grasp of technical concepts as they relate to product design and manufacturing.
• Ability to travel domestically 30%-40% (some international travel may be required).
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
• Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
• Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• To perform this job successfully, the chosen individual will possess strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) software skills.
