Current Openings:
R&D Engineering Technician
Duties:
Handload and function/accuracy testing of Barnes’ bullets.
Develop load data; test new loads for function and safety.
Plan, record and summarize R&D tests; assist with weekly & monthly reporting requirements.
Interact and communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and peers on technical issues.
Develop and implement written work procedures; train others on new processes.
Assist with the design of new bullets and loads and related tooling and machinery.
Generate new 3D part models and the associated complete, accurate, toleranced CAD drawings.
Operate basic machine shop, ballistics testing, and production equipment.
This position will include some evening and weekend shifts, and will require some travel to other work sites.
Must be willing and able to work overtime when necessary
Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or have equivalent work experience in a technical or scientific field.
Experienced hand-loader and shooter.
Familiar with safe firearms handling, general firearms maintenance, and the hunting/shooting industry.
Have a basic understanding of ballistics theory and the desire & capability to study this field in depth.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required; specifically as related to technical issues.
Excellent mechanical skills are required to set up equipment and machinery.
Excellent computer skills are required; specifically the individual needs to demonstrate proficiency with common Microsoft Office software and CAD software such as AutoCad and SolidWorks.
Ability to apply basic algebra and trigonometry to solve common mathematical problems dealing with area, circumference, volume, angles, percentages, discounts, margins, interest, and proportions.
Personal Tool Requirements: basic hand tools, a scientific calculator, a good quality 0-1” external micrometer, and a pair of 6” calipers (Additional tools may be required as the job progresses)
Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following:
>Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision
>Read and comprehend process instructions
>Record pertinent process information as required
Physical Demands:
Position requires the use of stairs/ladders, and occasionally lifting 50+ pounds.
The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk and hear.
Good hygiene and grooming habits, long hair must be pulled back, no loose clothing or exposed midriffs, no shorts, and closed toed shoes required.
Compensation Package:
Starting salary: $20 per hour depending on experience
