Current Openings:

Ammunition Loading Operator

Duties
Responsible to setup, operate, and understand the mechanical aspects of the Camdex loaders, manual reloading presses and bullet/casing collators.
Must be able to accurately inspect bullets, cartridges and primers visually and dimensionally, using the appropriate tools in the reloading department.
Have a clear understanding on the procedures for the reloading department.
Must follow production schedule, including setups, testing and running to ensure maximum production and excellent quality.
Must be able to listen and follow instructions from supervisor and management.
Ensure that all procedures and documentation of travelers, including traveler face, pick tickets, inspection record, etc…are filled out and adhered to consistently and correctly.
Stay updated throughout the day on the operations of each area.
Ensure that setups are pulled ahead of schedule in order to maximize efficiency.
Review maintenance logs and daily checklists.
Shift work may be required on an as needed or permanent basis.
Must be willing and able to work overtime when necessary.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
Operating knowledge in all areas of the reloading
Must have excellent communication skills
Must be able to clearly communicate requisitioned needs for tooling and supplies to the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner
Must have good math skills, i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Good reading skills and be able to follow procedures correctly
Must be able to record all necessary paperwork legibly and accurately
Must be alert, aware and able to follow company safety policies
Punctuality and reliability is a must
Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient enough to perform the following:
Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision

Tools: Machine Operators are required to supply their own calibrated 1″ micrometer. Barnes can direct successful applicants on where to purchase these tools and also train the correct use of them.

Production Manager

General Summary: Provide direct, daily leadership to production employees in his/her area, focusing on core operational values of safety, quality, cost management, and conformance to production schedules to satisfy customer requirements. Production Manager is responsible for production, ballistics lab, shipping/receiving, machine shop, continuous improvement and maintenance departments. Complete reports on production progress, customer information, materials inventory, and manufacturing costs. Position requires coordination with vendors on purchasing, receiving, resolving complaints, and new product development. Position is also responsible for working with the R&D team on new product design and development.

Duties:
Establish strategic direction which supports company goals throughout all production departments
Provide leadership and drive continual improvements in areas such as but not limited to safety, process reliability, product quality productivity, manufacturing costs, and schedule performance
Supervise, motivate, and review subordinates and provide leadership and development training as needed to achieve company objectives or goals
See to conference calls, reporting, meetings, etc. when Plant Manager is unavailable
Work with area supervisors to implement and monitor company policies and goals
Initiate process changes and improvements to improve process efficiency and to reduce waste
Analyze process and operational data such as production costs, process flow charts and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of employees, tooling, supplies and equipment
Analyze problems by collecting and organizing data and proposing the best course of action
Work with area supervisors to design and implement standard operating procedures for all production operations
Ensure planned efficiency and performance goals are met or exceeded
Develop, monitor, and control annual budget for departments under their responsibility
Work with the quality department to develop and help implement quality control standards
Work with Planner/Scheduler to establish, review and update production schedules as needed
Monitor and review production to ensure standards are met
Liaison between all departments and managers
Responsible for selection and maintenance of all production and building equipment
Must be able to diagnose and repair machine problems, and ensure equipment and building PM work is completed in a timely manner
Ensure effective flow of materials between departments
Work on R&D team developing new or improved products
Complete work safely by ensuring all employees are following all the safety policies and procedures

Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree in engineering or equivalent work related experience

Solid Background with Statistical Process Control
Strong computer skills with experience with Microsoft Office and CAD products
Solid background in creating Excel spreadsheets and graphs for tracking and reporting purposes

Experience working with ISO standards
Strong planning, organizing, and analytical problem solving ability.
Must work well in a multitasking, high paced environment

IT Technician, Sr.

Duties:
Perform installations, maintenance and repair work on any computer related equipment that supports the business from laptops, desktops, communications equipment (digital & IP phones), tablets (ex. iPad’s), smart phones (ex. Blackberry’s, iPhone’s), printers, local area networks, wide area networks, firewalls, servers, any piece of computer related peripheral or software an end user would be using. An IT technician has to perform the majority of the mentioned tasks while providing a high level of customer service to the user. Setup, loading all necessary software and Connecting hardware to company resources
Troubleshooting all issues in a timely manner; first level support on any issues. Work within a ticketing system and create documentation for new processes. Maintaining an updated inventory of software and hardware resources. Training end-users to maximize the potential of existing technology. Providing recommendations about support and information access.

Quality Assurance Manager

Duties:
Maintain and improve the established Quality Management System for our products, which assures internal and external customer satisfaction and conformance to any standards or specifications
Responsible for promoting the Quality Program within Barnes; lead the development of and setting quality goals and metrics for the site annually and monitoring progress for bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to Remington Outdoor Company corporate Quality.
Lead the cross-functional effort to develop policies, procedures and work instructions that support the quality system. (i.e. Quality Manual)
Responsible for the training of employees in regard to Quality procedures and philosophies
Attend bi-weekly corporate Quality meetings to report 1) Quality status and progress to goals, 2) actions to detect, prevent, and recover from product and process deficiencies, 3) training and education of employees, 4) plans and schedules for introducing new and updated products into the market.
Ensures continuous auditing/monitoring of the Quality System for compliance and improvement
Assume beginning-to-end responsibility across all value streams for product quality; Share expectations for Quality with every employee
Provide a personal, physical point of contact for our customers
Communicate as required with suppliers and end customers regarding Quality and non-conformance issues to ensure quality of incoming parts, material, and supplies meets Barnes Quality standards
Monitor consumer quality performance by gathering relevant data, producing statistical reports, and setting forth corrective action process as necessary
Work with the Engineering, R&D and Production Departments to improve product designs
Update the current a Quality Management System to meet “ISO” certification requirements.
Establish inspections across the onsite product value stream to collect, analyze, maintain, and report product and process quality data.
Be familiar with Lean practices, techniques, and methods and work with the Continuous Improvement Lead as part of integrating Quality and Lean across Barnes
Recognize employees and suppliers who consistently strive for and exceed Barnes’ high quality standards
Shift work and extra hours may be required on an as needed or permanent basis
Travel may be required to attend such events as customer meetings, trainings, trade shows, etc.

Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a Mechanical, Quality or related technical field or equivalent Q.A. work related experience with a minimum of 3 years experience as a quality engineer and/or quality manager.
Understanding and knowledge of natural variation and the application of statistical process control (SPC)
Knowledge and experience in shooting and reloading industry or hobby helpful
Good balance of authority and diplomacy along with a firm and assertive personality
Positive, teachable attitude (Must be trained in all aspects of our company)
Personal drive and ambition to initiate and complete projects
Strong interpersonal skills, including motivating others, conflict resolution, and influencing without authority.

R&D Engineering Technician

Duties:
Handload and function/accuracy testing of Barnes’ bullets.
Develop load data; test new loads for function and safety.
Plan, record and summarize R&D tests; assist with weekly & monthly reporting requirements.
Interact and communicate effectively with customers, suppliers, and peers on technical issues.
Develop and implement written work procedures; train others on new processes.
Assist with the design of new bullets and loads and related tooling and machinery.
Generate new 3D part models and the associated complete, accurate, toleranced CAD drawings.
Operate basic machine shop, ballistics testing, and production equipment.
This position will include some evening and weekend shifts, and will require some travel to other work sites.
Must be willing and able to work overtime when necessary

Qualifications:
Minimum of an Associate Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, or have equivalent work experience in a technical or scientific field.
Experienced hand-loader and shooter.
Familiar with safe firearms handling, general firearms maintenance, and the hunting/shooting industry.
Have a basic understanding of ballistics theory and the desire & capability to study this field in depth.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required; specifically as related to technical issues.
Excellent mechanical skills are required to set up equipment and machinery.
Excellent computer skills are required; specifically the individual needs to demonstrate proficiency with common Microsoft Office software and CAD software such as AutoCad and SolidWorks.
Ability to apply basic algebra and trigonometry to solve common mathematical problems dealing with area, circumference, volume, angles, percentages, discounts, margins, interest, and proportions.
Personal Tool Requirements: basic hand tools, a scientific calculator, a good quality 0-1” external micrometer, and a pair of 6” calipers (Additional tools may be required as the job progresses)
