Hunting Africa!!!

Tim Janzen is Barnes Bullets R&D Engineer. He also heads up our R&D team and supervises the ballistics lab. The following photos were taken during a recent trip Tim made to Africa. Regardless of how thorough our testing is in house, we understand the value of field testing a product and encourage feedback and suggestions from our customers.

This Blue Wildebeest was taken on the Northern Cape of South Africa while hunting with Constantia Safaris. Tim used a Barnes 325 grain XPB bullet in the new S&W model 500 revolver topped with a Burris 2X scope to drop this fine animal with one shot.
Impala from the Northern Cape of South Africa while hunting with Constantia Safaris. Tim was actually hunting Gemsbok when this opportunity arose. A Barnes 350 grain X-Bullet loaded in .416 Rigby dropped this buck with minimal meat damage.
Tim’s Kudu bull taken on the Eastern Cape of South Africa with Constantia Safaris using a Barnes 140 grain X-Bullet in a .280 Remington.
Stony Point shooting sticks were used to steady the massive S&W model 500 revolver while hunting the Blue Wildebeest.
Zebra taken in the Northern Cape of South Africa with Constantia Safaris. Once again, the Barnes 325 grain XPB bullet in the S&W model 500 revolver with Burris scope got the job done.
The bullet on the left is the Barnes .50 caliber 325 grain XPB bullet recovered from the Zebra. The bullet on the right is the XPB bullet recovered from the Blue Wildebeest. Both bullets retained virtually 100 percent of their original weight and expanded to over .970 inch in diameter!
