Recipe of the Month – Bear Stew

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 lbs. of bear meat, cubed
  • 2 medium onioins, chopped
  • 6 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 5 carrots, peeled and chopped
  • 2/3 cup of flour
  • 3 teaspoons seasoning salt
  • 8 cups of beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions:

1. In a medium bowl, mix the flour and seasoning salt.

2. Add the meat to flour mixture and coat thoroughly

3. Heat olive oil in a large pot or dutch oven on medium-high heat

4. Saute onions

5. Add flour-covered meat, saute until browned.

6. Add broth, potatoes and carrots

7. Bring stew to rolling boil, stir frequently

8. Turn heat to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours or 3-4 hours in Crock Pot.
