Following its introduction in 1989, the Barnes X Bullet was praised by gun writers and professional hunters as the most deadly and reliable hunting bullet available. Designed by Barnes’ owner Randy Brooks, the X Bullet featured a solid copper projectile, then heat treated for extra toughness. There was no separate jacket and no lead core. The original X Bullet has been replaced by the Triple-Shock and the Tipped Triple-Shock — new, improved members of the X Bullet family. A 100-grain .308-caliber X Bullet is still available for .30 U.S. Carbine loads.
